Yeasayer—Madder Red

Andreas Nilsson’s video for Yeasayer’s Madder Red which stars Kristen Bell is all sorts of disturbing, and sad, and haunting all at the same time. When Andreas was a young artist he did a year long residency in a small town in the Scottish Hebrideans Islands called Lochmaddy. His only friend was a local Shepard named Adam. One night at the pub Adam told Andreas about a newborn sheep he had just delivered that was horribly deformed, the creature was… Continue »

Evelyn Evelyn

On the way back from our Father’s Day outing in Omaha Scott played one of the more bizarre albums that I’ve heard in a while, the debut self-titled EP from Evelyn Evelyn. Their schtick is that the lovely sisters, Evelyn and Evelyn Neville, are conjoined twins, attached at the hip, who sing in harmony and play the guitar together—Right-Evelyn strums while Left-Evelyn frets. Being former circus entertainers, their sound is vaudevillian and chock full of humor. You can listen to… Continue »

Star Wars The Old Republic: Hope Trailer

MMMMM… It’s E3 week and that means all of this year’s hotly anticipated games are being pimped across the internets like a $5 hooker fresh from the free clinic. Not to be out done by lesser titles there’s a spiffy new cinematic trailer for Bioware’s upcoming MMORPG, Star War The Old Republic. Produced by Blur Studio, the same company that developed the Dragon Age: Sacred Ashes trailer, this trailer depicts an epic forest battle between Republic Forces and the Sith… Continue »

Mass Effect 2—Reprisal Episode 1

I was scanning for the latest episode of the Crackdown 2: Pacific City Archives when I stumbled across this new Machinima piece by Kootra, set in the Mass Effect Universe, the Reprisal series will, “Follow Kevin Barrett, a Blue Sun Mercenary, as he embarks on a mission to avenge his fallen comrade.” Funny, I was talking to my Jimmy the other day about how phenomenal game graphics are becoming, using ME2 as an example of the blurring line 3D rendering… Continue »

The Mad Capsule Markets—Midi Surf

I’ve got an oldie but a goodie today, Midi Surf by The Mad Capsule Markets. It’s Japanese punk with a heavy smattering of digital hardcore, what more could you possibly ask for? I remember when I first heard this type of music back in the late 90’s early 2000’s, I thought surely this is the sound of the future, but like most genre bending music, bands that played this punkish/dhc music like Mad Capsules and Apartment 26 eventually faded away.… Continue »
