Positive Peer Pressure Campaign

On this project we worked with Gage County MAPS to develop an anti-underage drinking campaign using positive peer pressure. I was brought into the project during the final phase—after messaging and a general theme had been developed—to create a visual that would convey the message that not all these small town kids are sitting around drinking on a Saturday night.

I took the theme of graffiti and ran with it, developing a logo and a poster that could be hung in area schools. After pages of sketches and a couple rough starts I ended up with something that I was happy with. Unfortunately, I forgot my target audience, small town teens. The youth advisory board working with Gage County MAPS felt that initial design felt too urban and wasn’t believable that this type of graffiti could be found in their area. So, it was back to the drawing board for me. After which I came out with a design that they dug. Something simpler, against a backdrop that felt much more rural than the first draft.
