The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition

Aside from Halo: Legends, the other shiny announcement to come out of the SDCC was Star Wars the Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition. Having played through the Xbox 360 version of The Force Unleashed a number of times I can easily say that this is by far one of my favorite video games. It has an excellent story that fits snugly into the Star Wars canon, and superb gameplay. There’s so much creamy excellentness crammed into this game that I would recommend giving it a try even if you aren’t a Star Wars fanboy.

The whole premise of the Ultimate Sith Edition is “What if the Dark Side had won?” Instead of kicking the Emperor’s bum, saving his pals and becoming the unsung hero of the Rebel Alliance, Starkiller succumbs to the Dark Side and kills Darth Vader. If you know anything about the game, you know that this option is already open to you and will score you some pretty bad-ass looking armor.

With the Ultimate Sith Edition—which will be available in time for the holidays—you’ll get the original game along with all of the current downloadable content—two character skin packs and two new levels—plus an additional USE exclusive level. What, wait, back it up, did I say two DLC levels?

Yup, I sure did. To kick off the Sith hype machine Lucas Arts is releasing a new DLC level later this summer. Unlike the first, Jedi Temple DCL level in which you are Vader’s attack dog, this new level turns young Starkiller into Emperor Palpatine’s bitch apprentice. To fulfill his new master’s bidding, Starkiller will romp off to Tatooine where it appears he will throw down on ol’Ben Kenobi, take down Jabba’s rancor, and tussle with Boba Fett. If you are totally hardcore and go for the Ultimate Sith Edition you will score the exclusive level which takes you to Hoth, where you will wade through wampas and put the smack down on that little punk of a sand farmer Luke Skywalker.

Probably the coolest part of this whole Dark Side Starkiller is that it rips the original Star Wars canon to shreds. Allowing for all sorts of alternate universe stories to be thought up. For someone who loved the old Marvel What If? comics as a kid, the idea of taking a tried and true sci-fi story and turning it on it’s head sounds ever so appealing.
