My little gamer heart has been made happier knowing that one of my all-time favorite games, Syndicate, will be getting the ol’retro refresh. This classic title from Bullfrog is currently in production with Starbreeze (The Darkness). For those that don’t remember, Syndicate was a squad-based strategy game set in a cyberpunk future world. You controlled a group of four cyborgs taking to the streets doing the bidding of your corporation, which often included going to town on your competition’s security forces with uzis and machine guns. The gameplay was pretty fun for what could be accomplished in the early 90′s. Plus, there was a robust upgrading system for your cyborg troopers. All in all, if Starbreeze can maintain the esthetics and core gameplay I will be happy to plunk down a chunk of change for the new Syndicate. On the other hand, if they bastardize it in the same way that Shadowrun was, I will mail a pack of rabid chipmunks to their door, C.O.D.
