Evelyn Evelyn

On the way back from our Father’s Day outing in Omaha Scott played one of the more bizarre albums that I’ve heard in a while, the debut self-titled EP from Evelyn Evelyn. Their schtick is that the lovely sisters, Evelyn and Evelyn Neville, are conjoined twins, attached at the hip, who sing in harmony and play the guitar together—Right-Evelyn strums while Left-Evelyn frets. Being former circus entertainers, their sound is vaudevillian and chock full of humor.

You can listen to the entire album on their BandCamp page, where you can download it for a mere $6.99 as well. Personally, my favorite track is the opener “Evelyn Evelyn,” a sorrowful lamentation on the twin’s tragic existence. If you’re one of those people who don’t like make-believe, you can check out Wikipedia for the true story of the Neville sisters.
