Patricia Piccinini’s Latest Work

I first stumbled across Patricia Piccinini’s artwork back in 2005 and was immediately captivated by her work. To me, they are at once frightening and enduring. You almost can’t help but to feel sympathy for the otherworldly figures that she sculpts. Piccinini currently has a new exhibit of her hauntingly realistic transhumanist sculptures at the Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery in Sydney Australia. The exhibit titled Related Individuals:

…includes a selection of new and recent works, including the Australian premieres of two substantial new figurative sculptures: ‘Doubting Thomas‘ and ‘The Long Awaited‘. While predominantly sculpture, the exhibition also features the first public presentation of Patricia’s latest video work ‘The Gathering’.

This reminds me of another guy by the name of Ron Mueck. He is along the same line as this lady.

It does freak you out a bit then I guess you get use to it.

I could imagine accidentally sleep walking and touch or bump into one while being a guest at her house. I’d brown my underwears.
